Five people were killed Thursday, when a powerful storm system moved through Alabama, spinning off violent tornadoes. All five fatalities occurred in Calhoun County. "For those families, it'll never be the same, and our hearts and prayers go to those families, and we're going to do our best to let them know we love them," Sheriff Matthew Wade said. The victims, including three family members, were killed in Ohatchee and Wellington. The same long-track tornado earlier roared across Shelby County, blazing a path of damage and destruction through several communities, including Helena, Pelham, Indian Springs, Greystone, and the Eagle Point subdivision. Another tornado, in Jefferson County, damaged homes in the Roebuck area.
