Tropical System Heads for Alabama

A tropical storm warning was issued Thursday for Alabama's Gulf Coast. A disturbance churning in the Gulf was expected to become a tropical depression, or a tropical storm. Forecasters expected the system to dump 4 to 8 inches of rain along the coast this weekend, likely causing flash flooding and possible tornadoes. The system was forecast to move across the state Saturday and Sunday. Central Alabama could see 4 inches of rain.
