The Senate on Tuesday approved a bill making Daylight Saving Time permanent. The measure -- cosponsored by Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) -- was passed by unanimous consent. "It's especially timely given that we all had to change our clocks this past weekend, and we're all now experiencing longer, sunnier days," Tuberville said. Alabama is among the states where lawmakers have passed measures calling for the change, but that requires federal legislation. Tuberville said his phones have been "ringing off the hook" in support of the measure. He said that support comes from a diverse group of Alabamians, including parents, elderly people, and farmers. "An enjoyable hour of daylight brings happy, happy times to everybody," Tuberville said. The bill now heads to the House.
