Union Trails in Bessemer Amazon Vote

Amazon employees in Bessemer on Thursday appeared to have defeated a push to unionize a warehouse, in a second vote. 53 percent of employees voted against joining the union. The vote was 993 to 875. But the National Labor Relations Board says there are 416 contested ballots, which could potentially change the outcome. A hearing on the disputed votes was expected in the coming days. The NLRB ordered a new election, after ruling last year's vote against unionization was tainted by management interference. Sen. Tommy Tuberville last week questioned the order for a second vote, in a letter to the NLRB, and suggested the real motivation "was a need to guarantee a particular result."
