Telemedicine Bill Signed Into Law

Gov. Kay Ivey Tuesday signed a a bill setting up rules for telemedicine in Alabama. The measure was sponsored by state Sen. Dan Roberts (R- Mountain Brook) , who said the legislation will improve the lives of Alabamians. "I believe you will see that help healthcare for our individuals around the state, as well as allow Alabama physicians to be extended to places where they're normally not available," Roberts said. Alabama had been one of just four states without a telemedicine law. Gov. Ivey said she was proud to sign the bill, saying "it will further our efforts to give Alabamians more options as they seek quality medical care across the state."
