Ivey Signs "Zuckerbucks" Ban

Gov. Kay Ivey Wednesday signed a ban on "Zuckerbucks" into law. The measure -- sponsored by state Rep. Wes Allen (R-Troy) -- prohibits election officials from accepting private donations to pay election-related expenses. In the 2000 presidential election, a foundation bankrolled by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent some $350-million dollars to election officials in counties mostly won by Joe Biden. ā€œIn Alabama, we are committed to ensuring the integrity of our election process remains second to none,ā€ said Governor Ivey. ā€œBig techā€™s efforts to undermine the integrity of our elections has no place in our country, and Iā€™m proud to have signed legislation that ensures Alabamaā€™s election process remains air-tight.ā€
