Shelby County Deputies Released From Hospital

Two Shelby County sheriff's deputies were released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, hours after getting shot in the line of duty. Authorities say the deputies went to a home on Bradford Place, in the Meadowbrook area, to check on a man suspected of breaking into his parents' home. The 31-year old man fired on deputies, according to Sheriff John Samaniego, who said other deputies pulled their injured colleagues to safety. "And negotiated with the individual until he put the gun down, and came out and gave up," Samaniego said. "I want to thank all the agencies who assisted today during this terrible attack. I ask for the public to pray for our deputies involved today, and for all of our brave men and women putting their lives on the line to keep us safe." The suspect was being held at the Shelby County Jail.
