Marshall to Schools: Ignore Biden Title IX Rule

Alabama officials Tuesday urged school systems to ignore a controversial rewrite of the landmark Title IX by the Biden administration. The proposed rule adds gender identity to the list of protected groups under the federal law orginially intended to foster girl's and women's sports. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall warned that could lead to "genderless schools," where biological males are allowed in girl's locker rooms and bathrooms. Marhsall and State School Superintendent Eric Mackey urged Alabama school systems not to implement the new rule, advising that "Compliance with the rule could run afoul of relevant state law." Marshall and other state attorneys general this week filed lawsuits challenging the new rule, which is set to take effect in August. The attorney general says further guidance will be provided as that litigation proceeds.
