A North Carolina mother, Mariah Hector, 33, was arrested on May 5 after an alleged outburst at Randolph Middle School in Charlotte. Hector was charged with assaulting a school employee and second-degree trespassing following a meeting about her daughter's involvement in a fight.

According to police reports, Hector became aggressive during the meeting and was asked to leave the premises. Instead, she allegedly pushed past a staff member and shoved Principal Jennifer Schroeder into a wall. Hector then reportedly grabbed Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Dean by the neck, attempting to choke her. Dean sustained visible injuries but did not lose consciousness.

The school was placed on lockdown during the incident, and Hector was taken into custody. She was later released on a $5,000 bond.

Hector claims her actions were fueled by frustration over her daughter's repeated bullying incidents, which she felt the school administration had not adequately addressed. She told WSOC, "I was angry because I have been trying to prevent this from happening all year."

Two weeks after the incident, Principal Schroeder was suspended with pay, though it is unclear if the suspension is related to the altercation with Hector. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District has not provided further details, citing personnel privacy.
