Representative Barry Moore (R-Ala.) has officially announced his candidacy for the Alabama Senate seat, which will be vacated by Senator Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville, who has served in the Senate since 2021, is leaving to pursue a gubernatorial run in Alabama. Moore made his announcement on Tuesday (August 12), emphasizing his early support for President Donald Trump in 2015 and his commitment to conservative values.
Moore, a third-term Congressman, highlighted his membership in the House Freedom Caucus and his dedication to the "America First" agenda. "I’m running for Senate because the people of Alabama deserve a Trump conservative and a working man who will defend their freedoms," Moore said in a statement. He also expressed his pride in fighting for military families, tax cuts, and Second Amendment rights.
The Senate race is expected to be competitive, with Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and veteran Jared Hudson already in the running. Former Congressman Jerry Carl, who previously ran against Moore due to redistricting, is also expected to announce his candidacy soon.
Moore will officially kick off his campaign with an event in DeKalb County on Friday, where his wife, Heather Moore, grew up. The campaign is expected to focus on his record and commitment to conservative principles.
